The “cRIO OPIF 5MBit/s” module is a powerful solution for optical communication over fiber optic cables in National Instruments CompactRIO systems. It serves as an adapter module that converts electronic signals to optical transmission, ensuring reliable, high-frequency signal transmission over longer distances with minimal susceptibility to interference.
Technical description
The module uses HFBR transmitter/receiver technology with a wavelength of 820 nm.
The components offer excellent coupling efficiency and are compatible with a wide variety of fiber types. This technology ensures efficient coupling in fiber optic systems – Plastic-Clad Silica (PCS).
It is equipped with 2 transmitters and 2 receivers that enable stable communication over fiber optic cables. The module supports data rates of up to 5 MBit/s and is compatible with widely used industrial connectors such as SC, ST and FC.
Thanks to the 820 nm Miniature Link Series, a cost-effective, high-performance solution for optical communication, the module can establish reliable links over several kilometers.
With an example of software integration in LabVIEW, the modules can easily be integrated into CompactRIO-based systems, increasing their flexibility and adaptability in industrial applications.
