# MiniPWZ II – Phase Angle Switching

Category: Hardware · Product page: https://irs.systems/en/products/hardware/minipwz

Phase-synchronous switching at a precisely adjustable phase angle – for power generation such as wind energy and for testing on-load tap changers.

## Product description

The MiniPWZ II is specially designed for applications at power producers (for example in wind power) or for testing on-load tap changers. With the MiniPWZ II, switching operations can take place at a precisely adjustable phase angle. Either the mains frequency (50 Hz) or any sinusoidal AC voltage can be used as the reference signal.

## Channels and configuration

The MiniPWZ II offers up to 9 digital inputs and 9 digital outputs (standard: 0/24 VDC, adjustable for example to 0/5 VDC). Most of the functionality is configurable via the firmware. By default – as described above – 4 inputs and outputs are used for phase-synchronous switching. The remaining inputs can be used, for example, for enable signals, while the other outputs can signal errors. The switch-on and switch-off angles and the respective operating modes can be configured individually via the integrated web server.

## How it works

In the example, switching takes place at an angle of 90°. The input signal (pink) can be activated at any time – for example by a PLC. The output signal (blue) is then activated only when the 90° angle is reached (the yellow signal is the reference signal). In this operating mode, the output signal is deactivated again depending on the input signal; alternatively, it can also be deactivated at a specific phase position.
