Category: Hardware · Product page: https://irs.systems/en/products/hardware/crio-wheelsim

cRIO module for precise simulation of wheel speed sensors for HIL testing of ECUs and power electronics in electric and hybrid vehicles.

The “cRIO WheelSim” is a purpose-built module for the precise simulation of wheel speed sensors in National Instruments CompactRIO systems. It was designed for test applications in the power electronics of electric machines, for example in electric and hybrid vehicles, and in other industrial fields such as control unit development. The module enables realistic reproduction of wheel speed signals for functional, end-of-line or lifetime tests.

## Technical description

The module realistically reproduces wheel speed signals such as those used by ABS or ESP systems in vehicles. The signals are generated to match the output signals of real wheel speed sensors as closely as possible.

Optocouplers pull the battery voltage (VCC) to ground to simulate the characteristic square-wave pulses of an active or passive wheel speed sensor. The optocouplers provide galvanic isolation, preventing interference and voltage transfer between the signal sources and the downstream electronics.

## Technical specifications

## Applications

Electric and hybrid vehicles, electric machines and other industrial applications: Optimization and validation of inverter solutions and control units through precise simulation of wheel speed signals in high-power environments, e.g. in drive systems, robotics and automation technology.

Design validation and end-of-line tests: Functional testing without original sensors.

Research and development: The module enables efficient development and testing of inverter controls in a wide variety of applications, helping to increase the reliability and performance of power electronics.

Thanks to its flexible configuration and integration into existing systems, the “cRIO WheelSim” module offers an efficient solution for sensor simulation in a wide range of industrial applications.
